Lynn Newell's colored pencil rendition of East Brother Island Light Station has painstakingly replicated the ornamental gingerbread wood-work, a signature of the late 1800 Victorian houses known as "Painted Ladies."

The scene realistically depicts the view of a slightly overcast Bay Area morning with muted grays and blues serving as a background to the period-correct shades of red of the roof shingles and chimney bricks.
